The power of classroom-based instructor-led training can now be delivered to a global population of trainees as easily as having everybody in the same room.

The trend nowadays is for organisations to deliver learning and development solutions through the use of some type of elearning. This elearning training can now consist of a number of approaches to imparting knowledge and skills to people online. For example, through the use of training webinars.

The power of classroom-based instructor-led training in a live environment, in which the trainer and trainees work together using a wide variety of learning resources to produce a highly interactive and media-rich learning environment, has all too often been overlooked by organisations wanting to embrace the use of online learning.

The truth is that it is now possible to combine both the traditional benefits of instructor led training and the new benefits of online delivery. So, a trainee can have the benefit of a high degree of interaction with the trainer and with the other trainees around the globe, all at the same time. Furthermore, all of this can be achieved with minimal set up costs and using everyday devices such as mobile phones and laptops.

So, whilst the technology to deliver is now available to anyone, it is critical that well crafted instructor led content is developed to be delivered over the technology to reproduce the classroom experience as closely as possible.

Our Virtual Classroom Design Process

We develop and deliver Virtual Classrooms (sometimes referred to as training webinars) using the following nine step process:

1) Agree Training Objective

We work closely with the client to indentify the learning objectives for the session(s).  We express each  objective as a SMART Goal to be achieved by each trainee post the training.

Create Measureable Work-Based Outcomes

2) Devise Pre and Post Training Assessments

We create an online self assessment test based on the job holder’s job competencies to assess their current level of knowledge and skill prior to the training.

Identify Knowledge and Skill Levels

3) Design Course Structure

Using our instructional design capabilities we design the course structure to incorporate the use of interactive learning activities now available on virtual classroom platforms.

Create Customised Content

4) Create Training Solution

Using existing client owned training material (if any) and our own training material we undertake content creation.  The content is customised as necessary to meet the client’s needs.

Devise Structure and Content

5) Undertake Pre-Training Assessment

Trainees undertake the online self-assessment test (already devised) based on their job competencies to assess their current level of knowledge and skill prior to the training.

Identify Knowledge/Skill Gaps

6) Run Virtual Classroom(s)

The Trainer, supported by a Facilitator, runs the VC Session ensuring the highest degree of interactive learning.

Deliver sessions using Interactive Online Engaging Media Rich Content

7) Run Reinforcement Session

The Trainer runs a further session four to six weeks after completion of the virtual classroom(s) to check on trainees’ progress, share successes and add further inputs to help the trainees’ personal development.

Reinforce content of sessions/debrief with participants/add to content

8) Undertake Post Training Assessment

Trainees undertake the same online self assessment based on their job competencies to assess the level of improvement in their knowledge and skills.  Their goal assessment is measured against their SMART Goals.

Identify increase in knowledge and skill

9) Provide Ongoing Performance Support

Trainees access online, interactive, personal development resources to support their continuous personal development.

Trainees work in a virtual community to share thoughts, views, ideas and experiences using blogs and other internal learning and development sharing portals.

Trainee Workbook Provides Trainees with a digital/hard copy of the session to use to prepare for the session and then use as an on-the-job aid.
